Annual Meeting & Potluck Dinner

Every year the Friends of the Eastern California Museum hold their Annual Membership Meeting and Potluck Dinner . . . an Inyo County tradition! This year our focus is on Death Valley and the many bold women who capitalized on its boom-and-bust lifestyle by creating popular saloons and brothels. Our guest speaker for the evening, local author and historian, Robin Flinchum, will be sharing intriguing and colorful stories about several of Death Valley’s more prominent “ladies.”  These lively women were clever entrepreneurs and fearless adventurers but also mothers, wives, and respected members of their communities. Especially notable were Madam Lola Travis, one of the wealthiest single women in Inyo County in the 1870s, and Kaitie Fialla, known as Diamond Tooth Lil, a poor immigrant girl who became a western legend. Come and join us! And don’t forget to bring a potluck dish!
